What You’ll Need

Using only a few simple ingredients, including three different types of alcohol, you can create this alcoholic apple pie cocktail. (See the printable recipe card for further information and measurements; scroll down to the bottom of this page.)

  • Apple cider: Be sure to use pure apple cider (local if you can locate it), not apple cider vinegar
  • Apple juice: Increases the apple flavor of the drink while also sweetening it. Sugar is made up of an equal mixture of granulated sugar and brown sugar. Sugar is required to counteract the effects of the cider and alcohol. If you remove these components, the drink will be considerably too powerful and bitter
  • Otherwise, add them in. Apple pie spice: This flavored moonshine has the flavor of apple pie in a glass because of the use of this spice. Apple juice is cooked with half of the cinnamon sticks while the other half is put to the jars just before sealing. Grain alcohol: You may use any grain alcohol between 80 and 151 proof (such as Everclear®), depending on how strong you prefer your cocktail. If you are unable to get grain alcohol, you can use the highest proof vodka that you can locate. To produce this apple pie moonshine a la mode, we use both caramel and vanilla vodka to enhance the flavor of the apple pie moonshine.

How to Make Apple Pie Moonshine

Apple cider: Make careful you use pure apple cider (preferably from a local source if possible), not apple cider vinegar. Apple juice: Increases the apple flavor of the beverage while also sweetening it. Brown sugar and granulated sugar are used in equal proportions. Sugar is required to counterbalance the effects of the cider and alcohol. Please do not ignore these components, since the drink will be way too powerful and bitter if you do; Added to flavored moonshine, apple pie spice gives it an apple pie flavor in a glass.

You may use any grain alcohol between 80 and 151 proof (such as Everclear®) depending on how powerful you want your cocktail to be.

  • Cook the non-alcohol ingredients for a few minutes. In a large stockpot, combine all of the ingredients except the liquor and bring to a rolling boil. Reduce the heat to low and cook for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from the heat and set aside to cool fully. Remove the cinnamon sticks and place the alcohol in the bowl. Stir in the grain alcohol and vodkas once the apple cider mixture has been allowed to cool fully before transferring to mason jars. Fill the mason jars halfway with fresh cinnamon sticks. Distribute the moonshine among the jars in a fair amount. Place lids on securely and store until ready to serve. The flavor of this moonshine is great shortly after it is prepared, but it is even better after it has mellowed for several weeks. As far as is practicable, store the jars in a cold, dry, and dark location for several weeks.

Tips for Success

If this is your first time producing moonshine, there are a few things you should bear in mind before getting started.

  • To ensure that the apple cider mixture is absolutely cold, set it aside. It is important not to add your alcohol until the mixture has cooled completely, as the alcohol will begin to disperse. Also, avoid adding the alcohol near an open flame or heat source. Alcohol, particularly grain alcohol, has a high flammability rating. Another reason to wait until the mixture has cooled fully before adding the alcohol is to avoid burning your fingers. Before opening, give it a good shake. The residue from the cinnamon stick may still be present, in which case simply shake the container before opening. It is possible to filter the liquid through cheesecloth if it is really bothersome to you. How to properly seal your canning jars. Because of the alcohol component, the jars do not require a tight vacuum seal as you would for other types of preserving or canning, but you should still apply a tight closure on them. The lid tops are boiled for a few minutes, then wiped dry and placed on top of the jar, which is my preferred method. To finish, add the ring and tighten it until it is “finger snug.” Without having to bother about boiling the jars, you may create a miniature vacuum-like seal with a heated lid, saving time and money. Make the necessary adjustments to the alcohol. You may modify the flavor of the moonshine after you’ve opened it to consume it by adding more alcohol to make it stronger or additional apple cider to make it softer. The sweetness of the apple cider and apple juice might vary depending on the variety. The amount of alcohol you use will determine how sweet the drink will be

Serving Suggestions

Because this apple pie moonshine recipe calls for Everclear as well as two flavored vodkas, it delivers a powerful punch in terms of alcohol content — the longer it sits, the less alcohol you will be able to detect. When you drink it for a long period of time, it might taste like drinking spiced apple juice and nothing more. Consequently, the most essential thing to remember while serving this is to sip carefully and responsibly. Pour the moonshine into a cocktail glass or a shot glass depending on your preference for serving.

Pour the contents from a few mason jars into a big serving pitcher and let visitors to serve themselves as they choose.

If you’re going to do this, I recommend putting out tiny glasses first.

The fact that this recipe produces a big amount of moonshine means that it makes an excellent Christmas present for friends and neighbors. If I’m presenting it as a gift, I prefer to pour it into smaller mason jars and then tie a ribbon around the jar and include a letter.

How to Store

  • How long does moonshine keep its potency? The beautiful thing about creating moonshine is that it will keep for a long period of time in the bottle. Once opened, it will keep for up to 3 months at the back of the fridge before becoming stale. However, if it is not opened and stored in a cold, dry environment, it can survive up to three years. Is it necessary to keep moonshine refrigerated? Moonshine jars that have been opened should be refrigerated. Jars that have not been opened should not be refrigerated, but should be stored in a cool, dry location. Is it possible to freeze moonshine? Your moonshine may be stored in the freezer, that’s correct! When frozen, it has a shelf life of up to 2 years. Make sure to allow enough of headroom at the top of the jars since liquid expands when it’s stored in the freezer. If the drink is particularly powerful, it may freeze solid, turn into a slushy, or not freeze at all, depending on the temperature. In the event that it does freeze, it will thaw fast and it is quite great served chilled as a slushy.

Anonymous Rather of using white sugar, I only use brown sugar, and instead of vodka, I use 151 spiced rum to make this cocktail. Alternatively, you may freeze it, as I mentioned in my post on how to create limoncello (link). This will be fresh for up to two years if it is frozen. Despite the fact that I am sure it will be long gone by then, especially if you share! Give it a few days to mix all of the tastes together when you’ve finished making it, and you’ll have the greatest tasting moonshine possible.

When sharing with a friend, hairstylist, or as a hostess present during the holiday party season, a tiny jar filled with apple pie moonshine is always welcomed and appreciated.

What is Moonshine?

If you’ve never had Apple Pie Moonshine before, I must warn you that it’s just as hazardous as it is delectable.

This moonshine is created from 190 proof grain alcohol (Everclear), which means it has a lot of flavor and kick. With its excellent flavor, however, moderation is advised, and shots should only be offered as an after-dinner treat. Please take pleasure in moderation.

How Do You Make Apple Pie Moonshine?

The tastes of the moonshine are blended together in a pot of simmering apple cider, apple juice, sugar, and seasonal spices for an hour before serving. (While the juice is boiling, you may listen to my Friendsgiving playlist, which is available here.) Add the alcohol when it has cooled. The Apple Pie Moonshine is now ready for consumption. That is all there is to it. However, I recommend allowing it to stay in the refrigerator for approximately a month before serving it to ensure maximum flavor.

For those who live in states where grain alcohol is not available in 190 proof, you can replace 150 proof grain alcohol or use extra vodka.

How long does flavored moonshine last?

If you can find a way to seal them, they should last for up to two years at the most. Once they’ve been opened, I’d think they’ll last around 3 months in the refrigerator. I, on the other hand, prefer to keep mine in the freezer. Also, they may be stored in the freezer for up to two years without losing their quality. Whatever method you use to produce it, this moonshine is a delectable pleasure in tiny quantities and, as I have stated, it makes a thoughtful present. Homemade Apple Pie Moonshine

Midnight Moon Moonshine was a discovery I made back in 2012. I purchased two jars of the Cherry, one for a gift and one for ourselves. Allow me to state unequivocally that moonshine is a party in a jar! It’s possible that it generated a commotion or not! I immediately started tinkering and came up with my own recipe for Apple Pie Moonshine. In 2013, a couple of my girlfriends and I were sitting around my kitchen table (while the boys were outside playing cornhole), and let’s just say that more chuckles and mischief poured out of a jar of Apple Pie Moonshine than we could count.

The flavor of my homemade Apple Pie Moonshine was something I wanted to be less overpowering and more tasty and delightful when I decided to try my hand at creating it.

We would drink it more as a novelty than anything else (and shudder each time).

Honestly, the homemade Apple Pie Moonshine recipe I came up with is delicious! It’s smooth yet has a kick. It can sneak up on you.

Due to the fact that I do not have a still in my backyard… I use Evercleara as the foundation for this and all of my moonshine recipes, and it works flawlessly every single time! Why not prepare a batch of this delicious Apple Pie Moonshine, which is simple to produce and much easier to enjoy. Make some for yourself and some to share with others. That jar of this is sure to be a hit at the upcoming Chinese Auction or gift swap you may be attending. It’s a fantastic culinary gift idea! One quart-sized jar of the product I was purchasing cost around $26.00.

I started adding apple chunks to my recipes a couple of years ago to give them a little additional taste.

The apple pieces become extremely soft when the mixture has chilled, so I crush them into the liquid with a potato masher before straining the liquid into another saucepan before adding the Everclear. As I strain, I press down on the solids to ensure that they release all of their juice.

  • Bring the cider, juice, sugars, and apple chunks (if used) to a boil in a large pot, then add the spices and continue to simmer for another 10 minutes, slightly lowering the volume. Remove the pan from the heat and allow the mixture to cool fully
  • Once the mixture has reached room temperature, mash up the apples with a potato masher (if you want to include them) and filter the moonshine through cheesecloth. Add in the Everclear and give it a good swirl. I can’t always tell how powerful anything is until it’s been cold. Any additional Everclear or, if you feel the cider is too powerful, additional apple cider may be added at any time. A fresh cinnamon stick is placed in each container by me as a standard practice. This recipe will fill approximately 4-5 quart-sized mason jars. Store the moonshine in a cool garage or refrigerator to preserve its quality. Before you start pouring, give it a brief shake. Putting this in the freezer an hour or two before serving or going somewhere is a good idea for me. I serve it as shots in smapp shooter cups
  • It goes down well.

Notes from Colleen: This recipe may easily be doubled or even tripled. It is not required to include the spice, especially if you get an apple cider with a strong flavor. The spices give it a nice kick that I enjoy. It’s all up to you. Keeps well in the refrigerator for up to 4 weeks or longer (depends on how fresh your cider was). About an hour before drinking, I prefer to store it in the freezer. You can absolutely make this stronger by adding another half-bottle (or less) of Everclear, or you can make it weaker by adding more cider.

Play around with it until you get the bite/flavor you want.

One of the nicest things about apple-flavored moonshine is that it can be consumed as a hot beverage during the winter months or as a pleasant summer drink over ice during the summer months.

Two Types of Recipes

The second recipe is extremely straightforward, but it will take you a little longer to finish than the first one.

Apple Pie Moonshine Recipe(Quick Version)

Using a heating element to speed up the process of bringing out the tastes of the spices in the apple concentrate combination, this version of the apple pie moonshine recipe is easier to make than the previous one. Although this is a more expedient method of generating a batch of apple pie moonshine, it also has a higher probability of producing tastes that are more bitter in flavor. With this rapid procedure, you can still produce a high-quality batch of moonshine, but patience is a virtue that should not be underestimated.

There are two factors contributing to this.

Due to the flammability of moonshine, it should never be stored near a hot element.

When the temperature reaches 174 degrees, alcohol begins to evaporate. The addition of moonshine to the simmering or boiling apple concentrate combination will result in a lower-proof and more bitter-tasting apple pie moonshine than if the moonshine was made separately.

Apple Pie Moonshine Recipe Step-by-Step Instructions(Quick Version)

  1. The first step is to pour all five cans of apple juice concentrate into a big saucepan and bring it to a boil. Toss in 3-4 cups of brown sugar (depending on how sweet you want your batch to be)
  2. After that, throw in your ten cinnamon sticks, as well as your apple, which should be sliced into four pieces and added to the mixture. When making apple pie flavored moonshine, you may add 1 pinch of apple pie spice, 1/4 cup of dried ginger, and 1-2 vanilla bean pods to the batch to produce a more nuanced taste profile. It’s important to remember that a little bit of each of them goes a long way
  3. Bring your mixture to a gentle boil, stirring occasionally. Cover your saucepan with a cover and turn the heat down to low. One hour is enough time to let your mixture simmer. Afterwards, turn off the heat and allow the mixture to cool
  4. Once the mixture has cooled, add in your 8 cups of moonshine. Make care to wait until the mixture has cooled completely before adding your moonshine to it. Stir until the moonshine is entirely incorporated into your apple concentrate batch
  5. Then gently pour your moonshine mixture into your 4 quart jars until they are completely filled. Make sure to filter the moonshine/apple concentrate combination as you pour it through a cheesecloth to prevent it from separating. Fill each jar halfway with 1 cinnamon stick and 1/4th of an apple that was previously in your mixture
  6. Congratulations! You may start drinking your apple pie flavored moonshine right away. If you want a more nuanced and aged flavor, seal the jars and preserve them in your refrigerator for 2-3 weeks before you plan to use your batch. Make careful to thoroughly combine the ingredients before serving to avoid an uneven pour of shine.

Apple Pie Moonshine Recipe(Slower Version)

The slow version of the apple pie moonshine recipe is the same as the fast version, with the exception of the heating element, which is the same as the fast version. For this recipe, you’ll combine all of the ingredients in a big pot, stir it thoroughly, cover it with a lid, and let it aside for 24 hours. Consequently, the cinnamon and other spices have a greater opportunity to combine with the apple concentrate and other tastes in the batch as a consequence of this method. As a result, the flavor profile of your moonshine will be richer and more nuanced.

Apple Pie Moonshine Recipe Ingredients(Slower Version)

  • You may use either moonshine (120 proof) or vodka (80 proof) if you want a less strong end result
  • 8 cups of sugar A total of five cans of apple juice concentrate brown sugar (about 3-4 cups)
  • 10 cinnamon sticks (optional). Spices for apple pie
  • Ginger that has been dried
  • Vanilla bean is a kind of bean that is used in baking. 1 piece of fruit (apple)

  2. After that, throw in your ten cinnamon sticks, as well as your apple, which should be sliced into four pieces and added to the mixture. To make your apple pie moonshine have a more complex flavor profile, you can also add 1 pinch of apple pie spice, 1/4 cup of dried ginger, and 1-2 sticks of vanilla bean to the batch before it is finished. It’s important to remember that a little bit of each of them goes a long way
  3. Continue to stir the mixture until it is well combined, then cover the saucepan with a lid. For a 24-hour period, let the batch to rest at room temperature. The next day, thoroughly agitate the batch to ensure that all of the moonshine has been fully included into your apple concentrate mixture. Pour the moonshine mixture into your 4-quart mason jars one cup at a time, starting gently. Make careful to strain the moonshine/apple concentrate combination through a cheesecloth or a strainer as you pour it into a container. Fill each jar halfway with 1 cinnamon stick and 1/4th of an apple that was previously in your mixture
  4. Congratulations! You may now relax and enjoy your apple pie moonshine. It’s okay to seal and keep the jars in your refrigerator for up to 2-3 weeks before you can start enjoying your batch of jam. This will result in a more nuanced and aged flavor, similar to the flavor of the quick version of this recipe. Make careful to thoroughly combine the ingredients before serving to avoid an uneven pour of shine.

How to Make Apple Pie Moonshine

Preparation time is 5 minutes. Preparation time: 30 minutes. The recipe makes little more than 2 quarts of 70 proof Apple Pie Moonshine. Tasting Notes: Absolutely delicious, but it will knock your socks off.

Ingredients:

1 quart of genuine corn whiskey moonshine, distilled to 150 proof (everclear could be used as a substitute). Frozen apple concentrate in three-can quantities. 8 cinnamon sticks are required. 0-2 cups brown sugar (optional). Depending on how sweet you want it to be, you can increase the amount of these specific ingredients by up to twice (in other words, 1 or 2 cups of brown sugar instead of none).

Directions:

The “Instant Satisfaction” Method is a method of providing immediate satisfaction. To begin, place the apple concentrate, cinnamon sticks, and brown sugar in a large pot and bring to a boil. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to a low setting and cook for 20-30 minutes, covered. While it is heating up, stir it a few times to ensure that the sugar is completely dissolved. As a result of heating, the cinnamon sticks release their flavor extremely rapidly, allowing you to enjoy the tea just after heating it.

  1. After it has simmered for a while, take the saucepan from the heat and set it aside to cool.
  2. After the mixture has been allowed to cool, divide it into four pint jars (or 2 quart jars).
  3. It’s important to remember that 100+ proof moonshine is combustible.
  4. If you followed the procedures to the letter, you have successfully created your very own apple pie moonshine.
  5. You may begin enjoying the results of your effort as soon as they are ready.
  6. They say that good things come to those who wait, and we believe that this adage holds true for apple pie moonshine just as much as it does for everything else in the world.
  7. The “instant gratification” approach described above allows the taste of cinnamon sticks to be released quickly, resulting in a batch of tea that is immediately drinking.
  8. Why?
  9. Without using a boiling procedure, you may get 100 percent of the flavor while avoiding bitterness altogether.
  10. When you follow a recipe that calls for adding a gallon of this and a gallon of that, by the time you’ve finished adding all of the liquid, your proof has slipped below the level of infant formula.

Apple concentration imparts apple taste without reducing the proof level of the product. All of a sudden, this material appears out of nowhere, and it punches you in the face! But it’s oh, so delicious.

Gourmet Apple Pie Moonshine

Instant Satisfaction is a method of obtaining immediate satisfaction. Cook the apple concentrate with the cinnamon sticks and brown sugar in a saucepan over medium heat until the apples are tender. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to a low setting and cook for 20-30 minutes, partially covered. To dissolve the sugar, stir the mixture several times while it heats up. Using a hot water bath helps the cinnamon sticks to release their flavor extremely rapidly, allowing you to sip the tea right away.

Removing the saucepan from the heat and allowing it to cool is recommended after simmering.

Following cooling, divide the mixture into four pint-sized jars (or 2 quart jars).

You should keep in mind that 100+ proof moonshine is potentially explosive.

If you followed the instructions to the letter, you have successfully produced your very own apple pie moonshine.

This means you may begin reaping the benefits of your hard work right away!

This approach is recommended if you want to prepare a batch of apple pie that is absolutely exceptional.

While “steeping” the ingredients overnight without boiling results in a superior product, it is not recommended.

We’re not really sure, but we believe that boiling the cinnamon sticks releases more tastes into the mixture, which results in a little bitter final product.

This recipe contains a lot of alcohol, so use caution.

It is possible to get apple taste without sacrificing on proof by using apple concentrate.

Nonetheless, it is quite delicious.

Hot Apple Pie Moonshine

If you’re looking to dish up some hot apple pie moonshine, here’s what we’d recommend doing. To produce conventional apple pie moonshine, follow the directions in the recipe above. Then, using the same components as previously, make a couple of gallons of apple cider and season it to your liking with it. Heat it in a crock pot without the apple pie moonshine if you don’t want to drink it. (You don’t want to add the moonshine because if you heat it for an extended amount of time, it would evaporate all of the alcohol, rendering it useless.) To serve, just place the jar of apple pie moonshine next to the crock pot and invite your guests to add a little (or a lot) to each cup of apple cider they serve.

Please enjoy this tutorial on how to produce apple pie moonshine, which we hope you find useful. This is how we prefer it, but we’d love to hear your ideas on it as well. Let us know what you think of this recipe, or contribute your own apple pie moonshine recipe in the comments section below.
