The distillate will have a fruity careover.in a 5-gal (20L) bucket throw in 8-10 pounds (5kg) of white sugar, pour 2 1/2gal. (10L) of near boiling water in and stir well. then mix 2 gal. (8L) of your favorite fruit juice. I’ve found that the more exotic the fruit the better flavor you get. Toss a good sized handful of yeast on top, stir well cover the bucket and leave in a place thats on the cooler side for 2 weeks. Cool as in 68-73F.I didn’t invent this recipe either but its easy enough for a beginner to play with and master the skill of mixing a wash, starting a ferment and distilling with just a little effort so even if you’ve made likker before give this one a try its not too bad really.I always add nutrients to my washes and mashes but if you dont have em get some for next time and see if you notice a difference, I think you will. I used a fruity juice that didn’t have a name other than fruit juice, prolly was’nt that healthy but hell it made likker. I used daquiri mix once too – you know the little frozen jugs and it was pretty good too. I dont think one is better that another ya know, so pick your fav. and givera go.

Now having said that some folks may like to push it and have some carryover in the collection – so if thats what you want thats cool too.This kind of makes me chuckle lol.My first experience with homemade likker (and it wasnt the TV show!) was probably 4 or 5 years ago, when I lived down in NC.A buddy of mine brought a jar of peach brandy over to my house when I had a get together.I remember the dark color of it, and the skinned peach in the bottom of the jar.I never really had the funds or the space to get into this myself until about a year ago, but I remember being surprised to learn that the peach was just for decoration, and the color was added afterwards.I remember the first run I did (although it was wrong in other ways) I thought I had done it all wrong because it came out clear lol!

(if its shitty though that might not be a bad thing).Again, I dont think you will get so much flavor that it tastes like you added extract to the hooch, its always been on the faint side to me. But different washes or mashes have diff. aromas to them once they are cooked. I used Crangrape and its tasted like wine after distilling. Clear- water like wine. I also used those little cans of Daquiri mix once and it had a faint fruity taste.”

Everyone is aware that fruits and vegetables are beneficial to one’s health. However, if we think that anything created from them is healthy, we may find ourselves in serious danger. Vegetable oil, for example, is far less nutritious than entire vegetables… So, what do you think of a fruit-based beverage like Jumex? Jumex nectars are not particularly nutritious. Let’s start by taking a look at some of the components in some of the most popular Jumex nectars. The name “Nectar” appears to be more than simply a fancy marketing phrase for “juice” in this instance. These Jumex beverages also contain the following additional ingredients:

It is just as nutritious as any other fruit juice to drink fruit juice “from concentrate.” It contains all of the vitamins and minerals found in natural fruit.. Due to the fact that Jumex includes additional substances that are not very healthy…
  • Jumex nectars are sweetened with sucralose. Sucralose is an artificial sweetener that has generated controversy due to concerns about its potential long-term health consequences. Sucralose has the potential to promote insulin resistance through a variety of methods. It also appears to be a migraine trigger for certain individuals.

Juice hooch! How to turn juice into a yummy cooler on the cheap

A balloon air lock is seen in the shot, as well as a conventional air lock. It was necessary for me to clean the containers in order to avoid growing anything unsavory. I have a natural attraction to folks who are deeply involved in the DIY movement. People I know who produce wine, cider, and beer in their closets are a dime a dozen. Although I’m interested in fermentation, I haven’t done any research into it personally. Making hooch from juice was an apparent first baby step in the direction of beverage production, and it was a surprisingly simple and inexpensive method to get started in the beverage manufacturing industry.

According on what you want to manufacture, you will also need a small chemical kit with sulfuric acid, pH testing strips, a hydrometer, and other supplies.

  1. Bottle of juice
  2. Balloon
  3. Packet of champagne yeast (although you could use bread yeast, champagne yeast has a far nicer flavor and is much more expensive)

In order to ferment booze properly, an airlock must be used in order to keep contaminants out while allowing gas to escape. If you are serious about creating juice hooch, I recommend investing in a juicer. They are really inexpensive and simple to get by. For those who are extremely sluggish (or who are simply conducting this experiment as an experiment in itself), a balloon punctured with a pin hole would also suffice. The pin hole enables gas to exit but prevents anything else from getting inside.

IngredientsMaterials:

  • Champagne yeast (1 ounce), 1 bottle of fruit juice (preservative-free, 100 percent fruit, clear juice)
  • 14 teaspoons (1 oz) fruit juice
  • These are the glass containers that I recommend
  • Sugar can be added as an option.

Method:

  1. Empty the bottle and remove 2 ounces of juice (to prevent overflow during the fermenting period)
  2. In a separate bowl, combine the yeast and juice. Place an airlock (or a balloon) on top of the container and leave it somewhere warm for 3-5 days. to your liking (it will get less sweet and more intoxicating as time goes on)
  3. Ferment to your liking
  4. Replace the original cap and set the bottle in the refrigerator. Every few days, or as necessary, release the pressure that has built up in the bottle.

Notes:

After three days, cover the container with a lid and place it in the refrigerator so that the carbonation may build up. This is not the type of beverage that improves with age, so enjoy it while it’s still tasty!

I used ahydrometerto measure hooch content, and did some experimenting with my brews. This is what I learned:

  • It took five days for the fermentation to be near to complete
  • The juice had a maximum potential sugar level of roughly 3 percent without any additional sugar being added. As I continued to add sugar, the maximum potential content increased. I was aiming for a 5 percent concentration, which equaled around 3 tablespoons of sugar (although the amount would vary depending on the natural sweetness of your juice)

The juice gin was a particular favorite of mine. This is because I closed it off before the yeast had completely consumed all of the sugar, so it was still sparkling and delicious. It was really drinkable, not to mention that it looked adorable in these small glass flasks: I even preserved some to give as gifts later on! It is important to note that a variety of factors, like the type of juice used, the yeast used, the amount of sugar used, and the length of time the juice is fermented, might influence the flavor.

SAINTS and WILEY FOSTERS tonight!

On September 9, 2010, socialpariah posted a blog entry. We’ll be broadcasting the SAINTS vs. Vikings game at 8:30 p.m. tonight (Thursday), so please come out and show some support for New Orleans. It’s a significant night for us because half of our workforce is from there! There will be music before and at halftime provided by the Wiley Fosters, Zog’s house band. That’s free live music, but keep in mind that musicians work for tips, so be kind. Mandey will be there at 5 p.m. if you want to get your drink on before everyone else.
