    Recipe includes the following ingredients: coconut milk (I prefer to get my coconut milk from HmartorTrader). Joe’s Coconut Cream– I don’t care for excessively sweet coquito, so I make mine with unsweetened coconut cream, which makes it rich and creamy. Sweetened Condensed Milk– The sweetness of the condensed milk is fully extracted for you. All of the sugar you’ll need is in one package. There are two varieties of rum that you will need for this recipe: white and dark. I like the Don Qrums brand since they are my personal favorite and the flavor is exactly what coquito should taste like.

    Additional Liqueur– I’ve experimented with other flavors of Coquito, including Nutella, Pistachio, Pumpkin Spice, Amaretto, and Hazelnut Liquor, as well as additional liquors.

    • Spices– You may use pure vanilla extract, imitation vanilla extract, or vanilla paste as your spices.

    Cinnamon, cloves, and star anise are all spices.

    An important part of the procedure is funneling and straining, therefore you’ll need a medium-sized funnel and a tiny strainer to complete it.

    Steps:

    • Pour the coconut milk, coconut cream, rums, liqueur, vanilla, and spices into a blender and mix until smooth.
    • Blend until the ingredients are well combined.
    • **DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP IF AT ALL POSSIBLE** Fill one of the bottles halfway with water and insert the funnel and strainer.
    • Coquito mixture should be poured in.
    • Repeat the process 4 to 5 times, removing the fat from the strainer after each repetition.
    • This will result in a silky smooth Coquito.
    • It should be kept in the refrigerator for at least a day before consumption.

    Before pouring, poke it with a straw, seal it, and shake firmly to ensure that everything is fully blended.

Pour the mixture into a two-quart container or a mason jar to keep. Keeping coquito refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 4 months is recommended.     You can come between the hours of 1p- 5pm. Wednesday-Saturday are reserved for sampling. They provide tours at no cost. The following times are available on Thursdays: 3:30p, 4:30p, and 5:00PM; and on Fridays: 1:30p, 2:30p, 3:30p4, and 4:30pm. The tour will last around 20 minutes. Reservations are not necessary, however it is recommended that you make arrangements in advance to ensure that an English-speaking guide is present if this is essential to you.     It is located at Carretera 141R (Desvio Norte5141) Kilometer 0.7, Barrio Jayuya Abajo in Jayuya, on the northbound side of the highway.

    Continue on Road 149 until you see a small right turn into Road 533 (see map).

    Proceed to PR-141R.

    After that, take a little right into Camino Los Banches.

    Take the Ruta Panorámica/PR-143 to the right.

    • Take a left onto Camino Santa Barbara and continue straight.

    The distillery will be on the right as you approach.

    Unless you’re planning on doing something else in the region, it’s probably not worth the trip.

She brought back not one, but two bottles ofPuerto Rican Pitorro during her trip to the island. Pitorrois homemade rum, sometimes known as moonshine in English, is produced in Puerto Rico. A pitorrois is a type of liquor manufactured from sugarcane that is often significantly stronger than regularRUMor above proof, which means that it is typically more than 80 proof or 40% alcohol by volume.
