Is moonshine supposed to be refrigerated?
Moonshine doesn’t require refrigeration for storage but storing your moonshine in a fridge won’t damage your spirits. The only elements that can change your moonshine are light, heat, and oxygen if your bottle is opened. If your moonshine is exposed to any of these elements, the flavor can be affected.
Can you keep moonshine in plastic?
Due to its high alcohol content, some people assume that moonshine will burn through plastic, which is why they use glass jars instead. However, the truth is that moonshine will not burn through plastic. Plastic materials are designed to be resistant to powerful chemicals, and they can even withstand hydrofluoric acid.

Is moonshine illegal in America?

Is moonshine a vodka?
Commercial liquor labeled as moonshine is typically one of two things: neutral grain spirits or unaged whiskey. White whiskey, in other words, is different from vodka, but some of what gets sold as “moonshine” is legally vodka.
What makes moonshine illegal?
So why is moonshine still illegal? Because the liquor is worth more to the government than beer or wine. Uncle Sam takes an excise tax of $2.14 for each 750-milliliter bottle of 80-proof spirits, compared with 21 cents for a bottle of wine (of 14 percent alcohol or less) and 5 cents for a can of beer.
Moonshine Jelly — The Breakfast of Champions!
In comparison to ordinary moonshine, flavored moonshine has a shorter shelf life and the spices may become less noticeable with time. Having said that, some individuals say that your moonshine only becomes better and smoother as the months go by, while others believe that the flavor peaks instantly and even mellows, and that if you store your jars for an extended period of time, you risk developing vinegar. Because making your own moonshine is still illegal in most locations, the experimenting is ongoing!
